Does the DNC Hate Wal-Mart?

It seems odd that both Senators Edwards and Obama are siding with union backed activists regarding Wal-Mart.  The liberal rhetoric seems to be coming increasingly political.

United Food and Commercial Workers union are reaching out for DNC support.  It appears that more Democrats are aligning with the union activists.

Last week the New York Sun reported that Senators Edwards and Obama will address union supporters as the unions launch a six-week campaign targeting Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Wal-Mart urged Obama and Edwards to get to know the company and its employees before making up their minds about the retailer.

"We've found that most of the politicians who are most critical of Wal-Mart are the ones that know us the least," Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said.

Mr. Obama's office said the Illinois senator "is participating in this call because he believes all workers in America, no matter who they work for, deserve to be paid a living wage and have access to comprehensive health care their families can afford."  Source: NY Sun - Edwards and Obama Battle Against Wal-Mart

The battle between Wal-Mart and its critics has taken on an increasingly political tone since WakeUpWalMart and another union-backed group, Wal-Mart Watch, were formed last year to pressure the retailer for changes including higher wages and better benefits.  These organizations are courting liberal candidates. 

Are consumers going to get caught in the big squeeze between Unions and Democrats in their quest for wage control and union representation?
