Update: Genocide

U.S. Senator Sam Brownback has a bill, S495. The general theme of this bill has eight aspects to it.

Darfur Accountability Act of 2005
1. Return to the UN Security Council.
2. Implement a no fly zone over Darfur.
3. Implement an arms embargo for the government of Sudan.
4. Appoint a special envoy to return to Darfur, Sudan.
5. Raise this issue in every diplomatic meeting.
6. Target individual groups that continue to fight and injure the people of Darfur, but are not members of the government.
7. Implement a travel ban on governmental officials.
8. Freeze Sudan's assets, so they cannot buy more weapons.

This bill was passed in the Senate, but it was remove in conference by the House. Apparently, President Bush did not want this to be added to the Emergency Fund for our war effort. If this is not a war, please explain to me what it is. He did, however, agree to an increase in money for additional African Union members to be located in Darfur. His number is (202) 456-1111. You may leave a comment here.

To reach the Congress and the Senate, the number is (toll free) (877) 762-8762. Please, make your voices heard. Speak for those whom have no voice. Be their hero. Save their lives.
