Legislative Update

In response to a steady increase in public pressure and the hard work of a number of dedicated lawmakers, Congress took an important step this week. This past Monday, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist indicated that he would introduce a weak Senate resolution that could have derailed more forceful legislation on Darfur while providing no concrete action to address the crisis. Earlier this week, we asked you to take action and call Senator Frist. You answered that call, and it would appear that Senator Frist has heard you. As you read this email, the weaker resolution has yet to come to the floor, and the stronger Darfur Peace and Accountability Act is showing new signs of life. Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of the people of Darfur.
