Stand With Darfur 6/20/2006

I received this e-mail today. Today is the World Day of Refugees. Why are there still refugees, when the UN is supposed to be out there stopping this? Because they are ineffectual. They are worthless.

This is why many people know to come to Washington, DC. If they cannot get it done through the world, they know they can come to America to tell of their plight. And we respond. We respond because we are better than all countries in the world when it comes to volunteering our services, our money, our prayers, and whatever is needed. Do not ever tell me that America is a bad place. I do not want to hear it.

Now for the e-mail:
Would you want folks to put their lives, families, careers, futures on the line for your family?

You and yours are worth it, no? How about them and theirs?

Whatever you would have them do unto you, now would be a good time.

And, if you are already doing it, THANK YOU, and please ignore my stridency.

This cartoon has been on Passion of the Present since November 2004.

Please, Stand With Darfur.com today. Thank you.
These people are not asking for much. They would just like to live a peaceful life, the same as we do. Why shouldn't they? Why do they have to fear being enslaved, raped, tortured, murdered, or worse? We can stop this.

How can we stop this? I'm so glad you asked! You can call your Congressperson and Senators toll-free at (new number!) (Congress) 1-866-340-9281 (Senate) 1-888-355-3588. Let them know you care, and you want something done. Ask them politely to deploy peacekeepers, thousands of them are needed, to Darfur, Sudan.

Ask them to warn Sudan against blocking the non-governmental organizations (NGO's) from delivering food, aid, and other essentials. There are many things we can do. Let them know you will be watching them. Not only their words, but how they vote!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it very much. I know they do also. God bless you, and have a good day.
