- Reuters reported that diplomats from six major powers will meet in Paris on Tuesday for talks on Iran 's disputed nuclear program.
- Scott Sullivan, Persian Journal argued that Iran has picked this week to carry out simultaneous coup d'etats in Lebanon and Iraq . Iran 's policy has misfired on both.
- Yahoo News reported that the Islamic Republic has warned 10 mainly reformist newspapers they risk closure for the duration of the campaign for December municipal elections.
- Amir Taheri, FrontPageMag.com argued that two visions of Lebanon are now in open conflict. One vision sees the country as a frontline bunker in a war of civilizations aimed at "cleansing" the Middle East of the "infidel presence," and paving the way for the emergence of a new bloc of Islamic powers led by Iran .
